(German-speaking)

Klostermühle is an international Christian youth-retreat centre, family holiday centre and short-term interdenominational, German-speaking Bible school. Klostermühle belongs to the Capernwray Missionary Fellowship of Torchbearers, founded by Major Ian Thomas. Since its beginning at Capernwray Hall in northwest England, the ministry of Torchbearers has developed to include Bible schools and conference centres around the world.

Klostermühle is located in the countryside near the City of Koblenz in Rhineland-Palatinate.

The area is unique in having four UNESCO world heritage sites and beautiful scenery, rivers (Rhine, Lahn, Moselle), vineyards, castles and historical towns and villages and offers great opportunities for outings, hikes or quiet walks, canoeing, bicycle routes and others

Students from abroad with a knowledge of the German language are welcome to join our three- or six-months Bible school program from the end of September to Mid-December and from January to March.

Why Bible school?

Our aim is to help you

  • to come to know the risen Lord Jesus Christ more deeply.
  • to study, understand and communicate the message of God’s written word, the Bible.
  • to discover and experience in your everyday life the reality that Christ lives in you and that he Himself wants to work in and through your life.
  • to be equipped for Christian service in your local church or mission regardless of your occupation

Schedule

The Schedule includes about 20 lectures a week. Usually, subjects are studied in depth for one week. The studies are Christ-centered, systematic and thorough, covering many of the books of the Bible and related theological topics. Lectures are given by resident faculty and visiting guest speakers. Personal study, reading, workshops and regular tests complement the material presented in the lectures.

Outreach and youth ministry

A significant part of the Bible school programme is the outreach ministry. These opportunities include ministry in churches (for 3 to 6 days twice during the six-month course) and involvement in Sunday worship services as well as practical training under the leadership of our guest team serving youth groups who come to us for their retreats.

Fellowship, practical duties and recreation

Klostermühle’s staff and student body give you opportunities to fellowship with believers in Christ from different backgrounds. Small fellowship groups meet together regularly for prayer, Bible study, discussion and personal encouragement.

Two afternoons every month and some hours during the week are set aside for practical work in the buildings and grounds. Students also assist with daily household duties to help maintain the smooth running of the centre.

Several sightseeing trips and outings are offered during the weeks of school. There is also a long travel weekend and a Christmas break. The school facilities include sports grounds for volleyball, basketball, soccer, tennis, table-tennis and others. The surroundings are great for walks, hikes and cycling.

Requirements

No specific academic qualifications are required for admission, but students must be 18 years of age at the beginning of the course. Acceptance is based on the student’s application and references. All lectures are held in German, therefore students must be proficient in reading, writing and understanding German.

Accreditation

The course work done at Klostermühle is accepted at some schools in North America and other countries around the world. A transcript can be issued upon request at the completion of the course. Visit our website for further information.
