English-Speaking Bible School 2007 Every year in spring the Torchbearer Centre at Lake Yamanaka welcomes young people from around the globe to take part in a two month English-speaking Bible School. Qualified lecturers are drawn from Torchbearer Staff in Japan and overseas, as well as from major mission organizations, such as OMF and SEND International, operating in Japan. The course is designed as 8 one-week modules. Generally topics include Old Testament and New Testament Overview, Genesis 1-11, Jeremiah, Gospel of John, Acts, Galatians, Japanese Language, Culture and Church History; and more depending on availability of teachers. It is ideal for people who have a special interest in Japan or are considering missionary service in Asia.
On Sundays the opportunity is given to visit Japanese churches and to see missionary work in rural and urban areas around Tokyo. Although we recommend that students attend the school for the whole period, if you can come for only a few weeks we will still be happy to consider your application. Cost: ¥27,000 per week (8 weeks: ¥216,000) for meals, accommodation and tuition. Dates for 2007: 5th May to 29th June 2007 Hideki Tanazawa is going to be an acting principal of the school, He is also the Director of Torchbearers Yamanakako. |
Torchbearers Yamanakako was established in May 1987 as a Christian Conference and Holiday Centre. It is located at the foot of Mount Fuji, the highest mountain in Japan.
