(English- & German-speaking)

Tauernhof is an international Bible school and retreat centre, offering short-term and practical Bible training and camps for young adults. It is located directly in the Austrian Alps in the picturesque resort town of Schladming, which is cradled between two majestic mountain ranges about 70 km southeast of Salzburg.

Tauernhof itself is a centre with a warm, friendly atmosphere, accommodating up to 45 people. It is our desire to offer programmes through which people may get to know the Lord Jesus Christ more personally by sharing and enjoying His life. We want to promote the growth of the Christian as a whole person - spiritually, mentally, and physically. Tauernhof is also a great place to be refreshed while enjoying the breathtaking beauty of God's creation. It is for these purposes that our programs, which are described here, have been designed.

Bible Schools: September to December, April to June

Tauernhof offers two short-term Bible Schools: Fall School (12 weeks) and Spring School (8 weeks). These concentrated courses are intended to encourage the growth of Christians so that they may be equipped for effective Christian living and service.

To this end, Bible books and related topics are taught by resident staff as well as guest speakers. Classes are augmented by special seminars, assignments, Bible studies, devotions, as well as participation in outreaches (to schools, churches, hospitals, retirement homes), services, and practical work which provide opportunities for application of learning. A fitness plan as well as ample opportunities for recreation and discovery of this beautiful area are also part of each school. These schools are conducted in English, which results in a valuable multicultural learning environment. Students must be at least 18 years old.

The relatively small size of Tauernhof provides a personal setting in which to study, form great friendships, work together, take responsibility, and above all to grow deeper in your relationship to Jesus Christ.

 "Upward Bound"

The spectacular alpine environment in which Tauernhof is located enables us to offer this unique program. Upward Bound, which has established itself as the "trademark" of Tauernhof, is a Bible school aimed at the development of the whole person - spirit, soul, and body. Its intensive schedule is designed to facilitate the deepening of a Christian's faith and commitment to the Lord Jesus Christ.

Upward Bound is conducted largely in the challenging and effective classroom of the mountains. It includes Bible teaching, backpacking, climbing, caving, rafting, camping, and various other activities. This demanding program does not require prior mountaineering experience. However, participants must be at least 18, of good health, and willing to be "stretched". This also applies to the following German programs. Upward Bound is conducted in English.

With this exciting three-week course we can offer an expanded German program which allows us to pursue even greater heights, both physically and spiritually.

Ski Camps: December to April

Located right next to the base station of a World Cup ski area, Tauernhof is ideally suited for the week-long ski camps we host throughout the entire ski season. Individuals or closed groups may attend any of the fifteen ski camps, most of which are conducted in German.

A week of skiing at Tauernhof includes qualified ski instruction for every level each morning, video playback, an all day ski-tour, and a race. Besides lots of skiing, fantastic scenery, great food, and new friends, there is a daily devotional as well as inspiring times of interaction and Bible teaching led by a speaker each evening.
