What brought you to Capernwray? To be honest, it just seemed like a good idea at the time! I was a typical art student and after completing a Fine Art degree, ended up on the dole, wondering what I was going to do with the rest of my life. Although I'd known about Capernwray for a long time, I'd never actually been until a friend asked if I was interested in joining a 20s & 30s holiday. I came with a certain amount of caution, but really enjoyed the teaching and also was interested in the international aspect of the community. When I returned home, I wrote a letter on the off chance, to see if there was anything I could do at the Hall and never expected to end up with a full time job. Looking back, I can see how God created the desire in me to come and arranged the circumstances and people in my life to make it all possible. How long have you been here? Six and a half years What do you do here? I work in the I.T and Design department, so I actually have quite a varied job. My main responsibility is design, which ranges from brochures, leaflets, adverts and other printed publicity, to t-shirts, postcards and cds. One day I might be working on an illustration for something, while on another I might simply be typing overheads or creating an application form. We also offer a photocopying service and as part of the I.T. dept. are called upon to help with all kinds of computer problems and get involved in any technical advancements that take place. What do you enjoy about Capernwray? There are many benefits to living here, in terms of the beautiful location, facilities available, excellent Bible teaching and living in an atmosphere centred around God, but the main thing I enjoy is meeting people from all over the world and the friendships that I have developed. It's really a privilege. |
