The Torchbearer Trust Fund was set up in January 1956 by Major Ian Thomas the founder of Capernwray Missionary Fellowship of Torchbearers. It was put in place to provide funds for students who could not afford the cost of Bible School but felt that the Lord was calling them to a period of study as they prepared to continue in their service for Him. The Trust receives money that has been given specifically for the sponsoring of students who would otherwise be unable to attend a school like ours. Large gifts have been given by individuals and organisations and there have been smaller gifts faithfully given by past students, churches and those with a desire to see this kind of fund in operation. If you feel that you would like to give to the fund please do not hesitate to get in touch with me here at the Hall. The fund was set up and the money invested to provide for people like these:
Please continue to pray for these past students who you will probably never meet. They live and work in some countries and situations that demand them to be strong in their faith in the Lord Jesus, and faithful to the call He has upon their lives. In the last three years we have sponsored over 36 students from Kenya, Ethiopia, Zimbabwe, Ukraine, Poland, Albania, Russia, Romania, Spain, India, Indonesia, Mongolia, Bolivia, and Thailand. These students have come to us recommended by their churches, leaders, or organisations and we have been thrilled to see each of them grow in their faith, give a wake-up call to the students from the so-called privileged West as to all that they can enjoy but so often take for granted, and then go back to their countries with a deeper concern to share what they have learned and often encourage others to apply for sponsorship!
