We appreciate that you may have questions which are different to those being asked your child or relative who is considering applying to Capernwray Bible School. So we have tried to list below some core values which are really important to us, and also sought to answer other questions which you may have. If there are others please get in touch with us.

Mission Statement

"Our mission is to proclaim the transforming presence of Jesus Christ through biblical teaching and practical training, equipping men and women for service in His Church worldwide."

Statement of Faith

  1. We accept the whole Bible as the inspired revelation of God to man.
  2. We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ is God, in equality with the Father, and that by Him the Father created all things.
  3. We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ became Man through the miraculous operations of the Holy Spirit, and that He was without sin.
  4. We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God, died willingly in the place of sinners, to become the Redeemer of this fallen World, and the only Mediator through Whose atoning Blood, and by faith in Whom alone, we receive forgiveness of sins.
  5. We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ rose again from the dead, appeared to His disciples, and returned to the Father; that on the day of Pentecost He came in the Person of His Holy Spirit to dwell within the hearts of all who had received Him, and thereby established His Church, the Body of Christ on earth, a Fellowship of all true Believers, of which He is the Head.
  6. We believe in God the Holy Spirit, co-equal Member of the Trinity, and that He is present in the hearts of all who through faith have received the Lord Jesus Christ as Saviour, and who are thereby born again, the children of God, who is the Father of them that believe.
  7. We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ is coming back again in Person to this earth and that by Him God will judge the World.

From school to college
The transition from school to college is a balancing act, and you will play an important role as your son or daughter makes this change.
At Bible school your son or daughter will take on new responsibilities - taking a proactive approach to learning, managing their study, work and social life, forming new networks and friendships, and pursuing a career goal. This is all vital to students’ success, and part of becoming a responsible adult.
This time can also be daunting for parents - after years of looking after their education at school, it can be hard to know what level of involvement you should now have in your son's or daughter’s higher education.
If you are not from the UK, your son or daughter will be living and studying in a new country, in a different culture and often in a different language, and it may be even harder to know what to expect.

Study commitments
Students will have lectures each morning and evening totalling around 27 hours per week. Attendance at lectures, seminars and Sunday services is compulsory. In addition to obtain maximum benefit from the course, students should plan to spend additional time in reading, praying and preparing and writing assignments.

Assessment
The type of assessment varies according to the subject; these will include written assignments, classroom tests, some memorisation and presentations.

Keeping in touch
The students will have regular access to internet so you should be able to keep in touch by e-mail. There are a number of telephone kiosks available and students can purchase phonecards from our bookshop. Any mail should be addressed to the student at Capernwray Hall, Carnforth, Lancs LA6 1AG, UK and will be placed in their mailbox.
When sending parcels from outside the EU, in order to avoid paying customs duty, packages should be valued at less than $36 for gifts, and $50 for other items. All packages should have details of the contents listed on the outside and should mention that they are for "use by a student temporarily residing in the UK".

Visas
Do I need a Visa to study at Capernwray Hall?
All non-EU (European Union) students who are intending to study for more than 6 months need a student visa. Also note that if you are attending only the Winter Bible School but want to travel within the UK before or after Bible School you may require a Visa, as your stay will probably exceed 6 months. Since the rules are subject to change we advise you to check with your local British Embassy or Consulate for current visa regulations.
